LOWER, WIDER AND SHARPER GTI DEBUTS IN WÖRTHERSEE
To mark the annual Wörthersee Show in Austria, Volkswagen has honed the Golf GTI to create a new concept.
The aptly named Golf GTI Excessive is formed from a series of small but effective modifications to the vehicle’s running gear to create a sharper, more focussed iteration of the iconic GTI.
Volkswagen has unveiled the New Compact Coupé, a concept that delivers the seemingly contradictory mix of a petrol-engined, practical, performance-orientated coupé with extraordinary economy and sub-100 g/km CO2 emissions.
A fleet of 35 new Volkswagen Amarok pick-ups successfully fulfilled their role as support vehicles to the winning Volkswagen motorsport team and the official organisers, ASO, in the gruelling long-distance Dakar Rally enduring extreme temperatures, altitudes and terrains with no problems at all.

As the covers are taken off the new Scirocco R at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA), Volkswagen is revving it up with a new interactive racing game. The “Scirocco R 24 hour Challenge” allows gamers to drive the most powerful and fastest accelerating production Scirocco ever built through a series of difficult corners and expansive landscapes similar to the Nürburgring. The game is available now to download for free for the iPhone and iPod touch from the Apple App store.
The most powerful and fastest-accelerating Golf ever produced – the Golf R – has been unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Developed by Volkswagen Individual, the special projects wing of Volkswagen, and following on from the Mk IV and Mk V Golf R32 models, the Golf R is equipped with a 2.0-litre TSI four-cylinder engine developing 270 PS and four-wheel drive.
