Stonor Park 2010 Show Report

E-mail Print PDF

For me Stonor Park is a show that takes me back to my roots. Days gone by of rolling around in my 72 Bug that I shovelled money into, yet still had to scrape icicles from the inside of the car during the cold months! Over 10 years on and although my Bug (god rest its soul) is no more, Stonor park is bigger and better than it’s ever been.

Stonor Park 2010

Stonor house and its acres of rolling country landscape plays host to this annual VW event, and every year it seems to attract larger crowds, more traders and a further diversity of trends and styles. From Mark Byrnes immaculate Xquisite built Golf through to Rat Look Beetles and Campers parked arches deep in the grass. If that isn’t enough eye candy to arouse the most hardcore of dub heads, then there’s always the Miss Stonor Park event sure to put a smile on a few faces.

The lack of big stands and loud music is a welcome and refreshing change and makes for a seriously chilled day out. Traders flock to Stonor with an Aladdin’s cave of VW treasure at boot sale prices. Just outside the main arena, cars are divided up into display categories where literally every kind of VW can be found and compete for the judge’s vote.

Stonor Park

Stonor is a big grassy bowl of Water and Aircooled dubs, all mixed up with a splash of sun and a massive dose of good times! It comes highly recommended as a must for every show calendar. With Henley town centre right on its door step it makes for a wicked summers day out, roll on Stonor 2011.

Awards

Every year VW owners compete in various classes to bring home a shiny trophy. This year was no different and the quality of cars on display was simply jaw dropping.

Miss Stonor Park

Stonor attracts a different sort of crowd and along with it a different class of lady! Skanks gyrating there genital warts all over your freshly polished bonnets need not apply! Instead a bounty of buxom babes play up to the crowd without needing to expose a single mammary gland, this is a family show you know!

Where is it?

Located 4 miles outside of Henley is Stonor House, a massive gaff that’s been owned by the Stonor family for the past eight centuries. Its grounds make it the ideal place to sit, chill out and look at plenty of VW’s. Unlike some other shows they aren’t interested in ripping your arm off for entry. Coming in at under a tenner you have plenty of change for a whippy!

Never been to this show, looks like a good mix of air/water-cooled VW's. Every time I see camper like the ones above I just WANT ONE!
