The long awaited first weekend of September had arrived. Meaning only one thing……..Edition38. The show has grown every year since it was started back in 2001 by a group of enthusiasts wanting to create a new kind of show.

With a report of over 1000 club cars booked in and a large number of european fraternities from Cleaned be, MIVW, Club Charlys and Big Pipes to name but a few heading to the show, this Year's E38 was looking very promising.

We can say they've definitely done it with one of the most sensational, exciting and followed shows in the UK. Proudly putting the UK back on the map for VW enthusiasts.

Even with the rain coming down hard on the Saturday thousands of Dubbers turned up to either take part in the show or admire the creations from fellow dubbers.

You may have been put off by the rain, but this is a show that will always have you talking for ages, whether it's rain or sun shine. Last year was so hot you'd have thought you were in the US, apart from the field you were in.

If you didn't already know, the show ground is at Overstone park in Northampton. It's a great central location for most dubbers and is a short drive from the M1 making it easy to find.

When we arrived at the show, even though the rain was coming down hard and the wind was attempting to blow all of the trade stands into the next field, there was a relaxed atmosphere and plenty to take in.

Straight away I noticed the new set-up for this years show. Who ever came up with it is a genius. There was a large circle, with a main stage at one end, trade stands either side, show 'n' shine display area in the middle and the drive through show 'n' shine judging tents at the opposite end to the main stage.

What made this set-up so good was that you could watch all of the cars enter the judging tents and see each car being judged, which is something that usually happens behind the scenes. After each car was judged it was driven down to the main stage where the owner was interviewed. Obviously there were times when the owner wasn't that happy being interviewed in front of a crowd, but hey, that made for good entertainment too.

Not forgetting the whole circular show ground was surrounded by club cars and as I said before there were over a 1000 booked in for the weekend. Making this a show where you saw everything from Mk1's to Mk5's, caddies to Jetta's, Polo's slammed on air or coilovers, Mk4 front-ends on Mk3's, Bora front-ends on Mk4's, matt black to one off paint jobs, smoothed bumpers, custom door handles, chromed audi rims to the widest you've ever seen squeezed in under the arches. You got it, this was the UK showing off it's new found enthusiasm for everything VW.

With many of the dubbers camping over for the weekend, the show didn't stop. The chilled out atmosphere carrying through into Saturday night with the beer tent kicking out some of the best old school anthems.

If you haven't been to E38 yet, make sure you go next year as it's one not to be missed. Congratulations to the E38 crew for putting on the best show of the year! See you all there next year.
